Linda Newton
Artist, Teacher & Illustrator
Linda believes that drawing is the beginning and the core of her art. She has a BVA in Drawing and a lifetime of teaching experience who creates spontaneous nature-inspired artworks, often featuring birds and other native animals, each with character that lifts off the page.
Linda's work can be seen on display in her Castlemaine studio, Studio MA56.
Linda’s illustrations can be found in galleries and private collections around the world, in several books and even in card games. Her unique scribble and scratch overlay is a common to a lot of her work and her work is nearly always of animals, from her loyal best friends to the birds that fill her surroundings.
Linda’s relaxed style carries over into her teaching meaning that classes with Linda are tailored to the skills and interests of the participants on the day. From decades of teaching art to everyone from primary school children to U3A and everyone in between Linda has developed a fundamental belief that art can be accessible to all, and this shapes Linda's teaching style, creating a warm and inviting classroom environment.
